Background Story

The xx’s debut album xx was released with the label Young Turks on 17 August 2009. I am a huge fan of this band, and in particualr of Jamie Smith aka Jamie XX. I have few records also of his solo projects.

Their identity is also very strong and minimalistic. The logo was designed by Romy Madley Croft, the female singer of the band.

They usually use tetures and visuals on the inside of the X, so I wanted to do the opposite and fill the space around it. It looks like a space photograph, or an aerial picture of some fluoreshent lakes. This image is actually a close up of a mixture “of some experimental liquids as milk, water paint and oil”.
